There’s something about a mountaintop wedding that makes everything feel bigger β the views, the emotions, the moment that first kiss lands. Derek and Emily said “I do” at Burritt on the Mountain on October 5th, 2025, and it was one of the most cinematic wedding days we’ve ever filmed.

The Day at a Glance
Getting Ready β Emily and her bridesmaids kicked off the morning in matching pink robes, keeping things relaxed and joyful before the ceremony. Meanwhile, Derek was across the venue trying β and mostly failing β to keep his composure before seeing his bride.
The Ceremony β With the valley stretched out below and the October sun dropping low, Derek and Emily exchanged traditional vows and rings at the altar. “With all that I have, all that I am, and all that I will ever be.”
The Sunset First Kiss β Golden hour hit at exactly the right moment. The officiant pronounced them husband and wife, and their first kiss was framed by one of the most stunning Alabama sunsets we’ve ever captured.
The Celebration β Emily paused the party for a tearful bouquet dedication to her father before the couple was introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Derek Eubanks II.
Why October at Burritt Is a Sweet Spot
Early fall is one of the best times to get married at Burritt on the Mountain. Here’s why:
- π‘οΈ Cooler temps, lower humidity β comfortable for outdoor ceremonies without the summer heat
- π Early fall color β the mountain starts turning and gives you a natural backdrop that doesn’t need decoration
- π Golden hour magic β the sun sets earlier and lower, giving you that warm, cinematic light longer
- πΈ West-facing views β the ceremony space looks directly into the sunset
A Little History
Burritt on the Mountain isn’t just a wedding venue β it’s a Huntsville landmark. Dr. William Henry Burritt built his retirement home here in the 1930s, drawn by the mountain air and natural springs. Yelp The mansion has an unusual X-shaped layout, and the original actually burned down before he ever spent a night in it. Yelp With no heirs, Dr. Burritt left the entire property to the City of Huntsville, making it the city’s first museum. Yelp
Today it serves as a living history museum and one of the most sought-after wedding venues in North Alabama.
