Dakhota and Jesse married at 5eleven Palafox on 12 November 2023, with a courtyard ceremony, a packed dance floor and a horse-drawn carriage down Palafox Street to finish the night. 5eleven is a historic venue at the south end of Palafox with an upstairs bridal suite, a back courtyard and an indoor space. That means you can have the outdoor ceremony and still sleep at night about the forecast. Here’s their day, and what I’d tell any couple touring 5eleven.

Their day
Getting ready in the bridal suite
The morning started in 5eleven’s upstairs bridal suite, where Jesse and her bridesmaids got ready with the Beauty Babes Salon team. The room fills with window light, which is exactly what you want for getting-ready photos: soft, flattering and no flash needed. Between the laughing and the nerves, it set the tone for the whole day.
The first touch
Dakhota and Jesse wanted to keep the first look for the aisle, so we planned a first touch instead. They held hands without seeing each other and talked each other through the nerves. There were tears on both sides. If you want a quiet moment together before the ceremony but still want the aisle reveal, this is the way to do it, and it gives me some of the most emotional photos of the day.
The courtyard ceremony
Guests gathered in the back courtyard as the ceremony started. When Jesse came down the aisle, Dakhota was in tears, and that’s the moment everyone remembers. Their vows were heartfelt, and the first kiss had the whole courtyard cheering.
The reception
Then it was party time. Southbay Event Group kept the dance floor busy, and the food, the toasts and the dancing carried on all night.
The carriage ride
To end the night, Dakhota surprised Jesse with a horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Pensacola. It was a real fairy-tale exit, straight down Palafox Street.
What I’d tell you about 5eleven Palafox as your photographer
The light in November goes early. On their wedding day, the sun set at about 4:54 pm. That’s typical of late fall in Pensacola, where the sun is down around 4:50 in December. For a fall or winter wedding at 5eleven, I’d plan portraits before the ceremony or straight after it, and save the carriage and sparkler-type moments for after dark, when downtown’s lights do the work. The rain plan is real. The indoor space is right there. If the forecast turns, the ceremony moves inside without anyone driving anywhere. Ask on your tour how long the flip takes, and where guests wait while it happens.
Portraits are a short walk away. From 5eleven you can walk to:
- Palafox Pier, at the foot of Palafox, for the bay at sunset.
- Plaza Ferdinand VII, a couple of blocks north, for oaks, the fountain and soft shade.
- The Palafox storefronts and the Saenger Theatre, for city portraits at blue hour.

One point of contact helps downtown. Parking, load-in times and carriage timing all interact downtown. A planner (Madison Leigh Events ran this day) or a very organized day-of point person makes a big difference.
