Mobile’s wedding venues fall into five groups: historic homes and downtown event spaces, hotel ballrooms, country clubs and banquet halls, farms and garden venues west of the city, and the big public gardens. Downtown gives you oaks, iron balconies and walkable photos. West Mobile gives you space, parking and lower site fees. Below are 28 venues, every one checked against its Google listing in September 2026, with the address, the current rating and what I’d tell you as the person photographing the day.
I’m Korbin, the photographer and videographer behind KDH Weddings. I’m based just over the state line in Pace, and Mobile is part of my regular coverage with no travel fee. This guide is written for the question I get most from Mobile couples: which of these will actually look good in photos, and what should I ask before I sign?

Before you tour: five questions that narrow the list fast
- Where does the ceremony go if it rains? Every Mobile venue says it has a rain plan. Ask to see it. A covered porch that fits 40 people isn’t a plan for 150.
- Ceremony and reception in one place, or two? Downtown makes two locations easy because everything is a few blocks apart. West Mobile venues are usually all-in-one.
- How many hours do you get, and when can vendors load in? This sets your whole timeline, and it decides how many hours of photography you actually need.
- Is there a getting-ready room with windows? Natural light in the getting-ready room is the single biggest upgrade to your morning photos. A windowless back office means flash all morning.
- Is there a required vendor list? Some hotels and clubs have preferred or required caterers and bartenders. Ask early. It changes your budget more than the site fee does.
Historic homes and downtown venues
This is the Mobile most people picture: moss-draped oaks, brick, columns and wrought iron. For photos, these venues give you the most variety within walking distance. The trade-off is space, since most historic homes top out well below the hotel ballrooms, and parking is often on the street.
The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion
1906 Spring Hill Ave, Mobile, AL 36607 · braggmitchellmansion.com · Google 4.6 (318)
The Greek Revival mansion from 1855, with the columns, the verandas and the oak allée out front. It’s a house museum as well as a venue, which is why the interiors look the way they do. I’ve photographed engagement sessions here (Bragg-Mitchell engagement photos). The oaks do the work: open shade under the canopy flatters everyone, even in the middle of the afternoon. Ask about the rain plan, and ask where cocktail hour goes while the ceremony space is flipped.

The Pillars
1757 Government St, Mobile, AL 36604 · pillarsmobile.com · Google 4.7 (103)
A historic home on Government Street with a ballroom, a bridal room and a groom’s room. One correction from the old version of this post: The Pillars is in Midtown, not on the bay. The oak-lined grounds and the neighborhood around it are where your portraits happen. It’s one of the most-searched venue names in Mobile, so tour early for spring dates.

Oakleigh House Museum
350 Oakleigh Pl, Mobile, AL 36604 · Google 4.6 (266)
An antebellum house museum in the Oakleigh Garden District with a large lawn and old oaks. Because it’s a museum first, rules on interiors, décor and hours are stricter than at a private venue. Ask what’s allowed inside the house before you plan any interior photos.
Ezell House
407 Conti St, Mobile, AL 36602 · ezellhouse.com · Google 4.5 (60)
A historic home downtown that suits small and mid-size weddings. You’re a short walk from Bienville Square and Cathedral Square, so we can get city portraits without a car. Ask about the maximum guest count for a seated dinner, not just standing.

The Hallett-Irby House
503 Government St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.8 (12)
A historic home on Government Street, a good fit for couples who want the downtown historic look at an intimate size. It has few reviews so far, so ask for recent wedding references on your tour.
Fort Condé Inn
165 St Emanuel St, Mobile, AL 36602 · fortcondeinn.com · Google 4.7 (480)
A boutique inn made up of restored historic houses near Colonial Fort Condé. It’s an easy choice for smaller weddings where you want the wedding party to stay on site. Getting ready, the ceremony and the reception in one place makes for a relaxed timeline with no travel between locations.
The Steeple on St. Francis
251 St Francis St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.6 (156)
A former downtown church converted into an event venue: tall windows, height and architecture you don’t get in a ballroom. Big windows are great for daytime photos. For an evening reception, ask what the lighting looks like after dark, because tall rooms go dim fast.
History Museum of Mobile
111 S Royal St, Mobile, AL 36602 · historymuseumofmobile.com · Google 4.7 (829)
A downtown museum with a grand staircase, a courtyard and the checkerboard floor that works as a dance floor. It’s a great option for couples who want something different from a mansion or a ballroom. Ask which spaces are included and what the museum’s rules are on candles, décor and load-in times.

The Courtyard on Dauphin
751 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.5 (11)
Brick walls, an ivy courtyard and an indoor space on Dauphin Street, run by Yellowhammer Hospitality. It’s an easy “courtyard ceremony, indoor reception” layout. You’re also on Dauphin Street, which is one of my favorite places to shoot (7 tips for engagement photos on Dauphin Street).

Crown Hall
653 St Louis St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.6 (56)
Crown Hall is now run by Bay Gourmet Catering, and the address in the old version of this post was out of date. It’s a large downtown hall that works for both a ceremony and a reception, with catering handled in-house. Ask how the room is set for ceremony-to-reception flips and where guests wait during the changeover.

Blacksher Hall
1056 Government St, Mobile, AL 36604 · Google 4.4 (15)
An event hall on Government Street in Midtown. It’s a smaller-name option that’s worth a look if The Pillars or Bragg-Mitchell are booked for your date, because the same oak-lined stretch of Government Street is right outside for portraits.
Hotel ballrooms
A hotel venue solves the guest-lodging question and usually the rain question too. For photos, the ballroom itself matters less than the lobby, the staircases and the street outside. Those are where your formal portraits happen.
The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa
26 N Royal St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.6 (1,998)
Mobile’s grand hotel, with the Crystal Ballroom and a domed lobby that’s one of the best indoor portrait spots in the city. It’s ideal for a large formal wedding with out-of-town guests. Ask about the preferred vendor list early.

The Admiral Hotel
251 Government St, Mobile, AL 36602 · theadmiralhotel.com · Google 4.2 (1,916)
A restored 1940 hotel downtown with event spaces from small rooms to a ballroom. The Admiral publishes a weddings page, and it ranks near the top of Google for Mobile venue searches. Bienville Square is a few blocks away, so outdoor portraits are a short walk.

Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel
64 S Water St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.5 (2,677)
A downtown waterfront hotel with large ballrooms and plenty of rooms for guests. The old version of this guide listed it twice; it’s one venue. Ask for a room with river views for getting ready, because the window light makes a real difference.

Malaga Inn
359 Church St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.3 (1,392)
A historic inn built from 1860s townhouses with a courtyard. It suits small weddings and rehearsal dinners, with the guests staying right there.
Mobile Convention Center
1 S Water St, Mobile, AL 36602 · Google 4.5 (1,026)
The largest indoor space in the city, for guest lists most venues can’t hold. It’s a blank room, so plan on lighting and décor to make it yours. Cooper Riverside Park, right next door, has been closed for a $13 million rebuild. The city said it was due to fully reopen in mid-August 2026, but Google still listed it as temporarily closed in late September, so check before you plan portraits there.

Country clubs and banquet halls
These are the practical choice for big guest lists and set budgets: lots of parking, catering in-house and one room for everything. For photos, I’ll look for the best window light and the greenest part of the grounds when we do the walkthrough.
Heron Lakes Country Club
3851 Government Blvd, Mobile, AL 36693 · heronlakescountryclub.com · Google 4.4 (417)
A country club in west Mobile with a ballroom and golf-course grounds. It’s the most-searched venue name in this guide (about 1,600 searches a month). It suits large receptions. Sunset over the course is the portrait moment, so plan portraits around golden hour.

Country Club of Mobile
4101 Wimbledon Dr W, Mobile, AL 36608 · Google 4.4 (153)
A private club in Spring Hill. Ask whether non-members need a member sponsor to book before you fall for it.
Fort Whiting Reception Hall
1630 S Broad St, Mobile, AL 36605 · Google 4.6 (170)
A banquet hall off South Broad Street that a lot of Mobile couples search for by name (about 590 searches a month). It’s a straightforward reception room. Pair it with a church ceremony, or with downtown for portraits.
The Grand Hall
3556 Halls Mill Rd, Mobile, AL 36693 · Google 4.4 (104)
An event hall on Halls Mill Road that works for receptions and large parties.
Golden Flames Banquet and Ballroom
7060 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, AL 36619 · Google 4.6 (135)
A banquet hall and ballroom in the Tillmans Corner area, built for big receptions.
West Mobile, Semmes and farm venues
If you want land, a barn, string lights and room to spread out, you’ll end up west of I-65. These venues usually give you the ceremony, the reception and the portraits in one place, with open sky for sunset photos, which downtown can’t match.
The Locale
4128 Government Blvd, Mobile, AL 36693 · Google 4.8 (182)
A dedicated wedding venue on Government Boulevard, among the best-rated venues on this list with a solid number of reviews. Ask about the ceremony site’s orientation to the sunset, because it decides whether we get backlit portraits or squinting.
The Venue at Dawes
3349 Dawes Rd, Mobile, AL 36695 · thevenueatdawes.com · Google 4.4 (171)
Gardens for the ceremony and an indoor hall for the reception, so the rain plan is built in. It shows up on the first page of Google for Mobile venue searches.

The Venue at Johnson
9014 Johnson Rd S, Mobile, AL 36695 · Google 5.0 (28)
A newer west Mobile venue with a perfect rating so far and a growing number of searches (about 260 a month). Ask to see photos from a wedding in the same month as yours so you can judge the grounds in that season.
Hatcher Farms Venue
10780 Jeff Hamilton Rd, Mobile, AL 36695 · Google 4.7 (85)
A farm venue in west Mobile (about 390 searches a month) with open land and a rural feel. Open fields at golden hour are some of the easiest portraits I take.
Loblolly Farm
9930 Stone Rd, Semmes, AL 36575 · loblollyfarm.com · Google 4.8 (16)
A rustic barn venue in Semmes. Barns photograph beautifully in daylight and get very dark after sunset, so ask about string lights and uplighting for the reception.

Gardens
Bellingrath Gardens & Home
12401 Bellingrath Gardens Rd, Theodore, AL 36582 · bellingrath.org · Google 4.8 (4,011)
About 20 miles south of downtown, on 65 acres of gardens on the Fowl River with a historic home. It’s the most-reviewed place on this list by a mile. The gardens change with the season (azaleas in spring, chrysanthemums in fall, lights at Christmas), so the date you pick changes the look. Bellingrath has its own commercial photography rules: sessions are paid in advance, no drones, and everyone stays on paths and turf.
Mobile Botanical Gardens
5151 Museum Dr, Mobile, AL 36608 · mobilebotanicalgardens.org · Google 4.5 (193)
More than 100 acres in Spring Hill with the Rhododendron Garden and the Japanese Maple Garden. I’ve shot engagement sessions here (Mobile Botanical Gardens engagement photos). Ask about event rentals directly, because weddings run under different rules from photo sessions.
Just outside Mobile
Two names that come up a lot in Mobile venue searches aren’t in Mobile:
- Bella Sera Gardens, 25049 County Rd 49, Loxley (Google 4.4, 340 reviews), is about 30 minutes east across the Bayway. It’s a garden venue with a lot of searches (about 880 a month).
- Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, 17855 Scenic Hwy 98, Point Clear (Google 4.7, 2,391 reviews), is the classic Eastern Shore resort wedding on Mobile Bay.
I cover the Eastern Shore with no travel fee, the same as Mobile.
What I tell every Mobile couple about light, heat and Mardi Gras
Sunset sets the timeline. Here’s when golden hour starts and when the sun sets in Mobile on the 15th of each month (computed from the city’s coordinates, Central time):
| Month | Golden hour begins | Sunset |
|---|---|---|
| Jan | 4:38 pm | 5:13 pm |
| Feb | 5:07 pm | 5:40 pm |
| Mar | 6:28 pm | 7:00 pm |
| Apr | 6:48 pm | 7:20 pm |
| May | 7:06 pm | 7:40 pm |
| Jun | 7:21 pm | 7:56 pm |
| Jul | 7:22 pm | 7:56 pm |
| Aug | 7:02 pm | 7:34 pm |
| Sep | 6:26 pm | 6:58 pm |
| Oct | 5:48 pm | 6:21 pm |
| Nov | 4:20 pm | 4:55 pm |
| Dec | 4:16 pm | 4:53 pm |
In November and December the sun is down before most receptions start, so I’ll push you to do portraits before the ceremony or right after it. In June and July, a 5 pm ceremony means you’re standing in full sun, so a later ceremony or an indoor one is kinder to everyone.
Mardi Gras changes downtown. From January through Fat Tuesday (9 February 2027), parade routes close downtown streets on parade nights. If you’re booking a downtown venue in that window, check the parade schedule for your date before you sign, and ask the venue how guests get in and park. Outside parade nights, the decorated balconies make great backdrops.
Summer heat is real. Outdoor ceremonies from June to August are doable with shade and water, but spring and late fall are the comfortable months for an outdoor Mobile wedding. I break the whole year down in the best months for a Gulf Coast wedding.
FAQ: wedding venues in Mobile, AL
North of Pensacola, just over the Alabama line: Anthony and Renee’s wedding at The Venue at Hidden Falls in Flomaton, with a 12-foot waterfall and a pond fountain.
How much does a wedding venue cost in Mobile, AL?
It depends heavily on the day of the week, the season and whether catering is bundled. Hotels and clubs usually price on a food-and-drink minimum. Historic homes and farms usually charge a site fee plus rentals. Ask every venue for the same three numbers: the site fee, the minimum spend, and what’s included (tables, chairs, linens, staff, hours). That’s the only way to compare them fairly.
What are some cheaper wedding venues in Mobile?
Couples on a tighter budget usually look at banquet halls (Fort Whiting Reception Hall, Golden Flames, The Grand Hall), Friday or Sunday dates at the farm venues, and weekday or off-season dates anywhere. The venue fee is only part of it. Required caterers and bar minimums can make a cheap site fee expensive.
What are good small wedding venues in Mobile?
For under about 75 guests, look at the Hallett-Irby House, Ezell House, Fort Condé Inn, Malaga Inn and The Courtyard on Dauphin. A small wedding also means fewer hours of coverage. My 3-hour package ($1,500) covers most small downtown weddings.
What’s the largest wedding venue in Mobile?
The Mobile Convention Center and the downtown hotel ballrooms (Battle House, Renaissance Riverview Plaza) handle the biggest guest lists. Among the dedicated wedding venues, country clubs and banquet halls usually hold more than the historic homes.
Where can I have an outdoor wedding in Mobile?
The Venue at Dawes, the farm venues (Hatcher Farms, Loblolly Farm, The Venue at Johnson), The Courtyard on Dauphin and the Bragg-Mitchell grounds all do outdoor ceremonies, with somewhere to move inside. I compare them in 5 outdoor wedding venues in Mobile.
Do I need a marriage license in Alabama?
Alabama stopped issuing marriage licenses in 2019. You file a signed marriage certificate form with the probate court instead. I walk through the Mobile County process step by step in Mobile County marriage certificates.
Can we bring our own photographer to Mobile venues?
Most venues here work with outside photographers. Some hotels and clubs keep a preferred-vendor list. Ask the venue directly, and if there’s a vendor agreement or proof of insurance to sign, send it to me and I’ll handle it.
Planning a Mobile wedding?
Once your venue is booked, the next question is how many hours of coverage you need. My packages are the same for photo and video: 3 hours for $1,500, 6 hours for $3,000 and 9 hours for $4,500, with a second shooter on 6 and 9 hours, and 10% off when photo and video hours match. There’s no travel fee anywhere I work.
