Seville Square is a park of old live oaks in Pensacola’s historic Seville district, two blocks from Seville Quarter and a short walk from Palafox Street. It’s one of the best places in the city for engagement photos, because you get shade, sweeping oak branches, brick walks and 19th-century buildings in a single stroll. Sean and Brooklin’s engagement session there on July 13, 2026 shows why. Here’s their session, the route we walked and how to plan yours.
I’m Korbin, the photographer behind KDH Weddings in Pensacola. Downtown is my favorite in-town alternative to the beach, and in July the oaks are a gift: on a hot day, they keep everyone in soft, even shade.

The oaks and the gazebo
We started under the oaks in the square itself. The trees here are huge, with branches that reach out low over the paths, so they frame a couple beautifully whether you’re walking toward me or stopping for a kiss. The white gazebo in the middle of the square adds a classic Pensacola landmark in the background.

A bench, a little cake and a kiss
Sean and Brooklin brought a small cake with them, and a bench in the square turned into one of my favorite moments of the session. Small props like this (a cake, a bottle of champagne, your dog) give you something to do with your hands and a reason to laugh, which is how the most natural photos happen.

Old Christ Church
Old Christ Church sits at 405 S Adams St, right on Seville Square. Built in 1832, it’s one of the oldest church buildings in Florida still standing on its original site, and today it’s part of Historic Pensacola. Its white walls, tall arched windows and the picket fence out front make a clean, timeless backdrop. I framed Sean and Brooklin small at the front door, with the oak branches hanging over the top of the photo.

Picket fences and downtown streets
From the square, the historic district’s white picket fences and old houses are steps away, and then you’re into the brick sidewalks and storefronts of downtown. We also did a walk down the middle of a quiet street for a wide shot, which takes 20 seconds and needs a spotter watching for traffic, and a close portrait on the sidewalk.

And of course the ring shot, set on the bark of a live oak.

A walking route for downtown engagement photos
This is the loop I use for most downtown Pensacola sessions. It’s all within about a 10-minute walk.
- Seville Square: the oaks, the gazebo and the benches.
- Old Christ Church: the white facade and picket fence on Adams Street.
- Historic Pensacola Village: 19th-century houses and fences along the side streets.
- Seville Quarter, two blocks west on Government Street: brick courtyards and iron balconies. Ask before shooting inside.
- Plaza Ferdinand and Palafox Street: the fountain, the palms and the storefronts for a city look to finish.

Tips for engagement photos in Seville Square
- Summer: the oaks give shade all day, but plan for the heat. Start around 90 minutes before sunset (about 7:52 pm mid-July) and bring water.
- Weekends are busier. Weekday evenings are quieter, and Sunday mornings are empty.
- Dress for the setting. Brooklin’s white dress and Sean’s navy suit read as classic against the green oaks and white church. My engagement outfit guide has more ideas.
- Bring one prop. A small cake, champagne or flowers gives you a moment to play with.
- Combine downtown and the beach. Some couples start downtown and finish on Pensacola Beach at sunset. It’s 20 to 25 minutes’ drive, and it gives you two completely different looks in one session.

FAQ: Seville Square and downtown Pensacola photos
Where is Seville Square in Pensacola?
At 311 E Government St, in the Seville Historic District of downtown Pensacola. Old Christ Church faces it on Adams Street, and Seville Quarter is two blocks west on Government Street.
Is Seville Square the same as Seville Quarter?
No. Seville Square is the public park with the live oaks and gazebo. Seville Quarter is a separate entertainment and event complex of restaurants and bars two blocks west on Government Street.
Do you need a permit for photos in Seville Square?
For a small engagement session, couples don’t typically need one. For anything larger, or for photos inside Historic Pensacola buildings or Seville Quarter, ask the property first.
What is the best time for engagement photos in downtown Pensacola?
The last 90 minutes before sunset. The oaks soften the light and the streets glow. In summer the shade makes earlier sessions workable, and weekday evenings are the quietest.
What should we wear for downtown engagement photos?
Something a little dressier than you’d wear to the beach. Solid colors, light fabrics in summer and shoes you can walk a few blocks in. White, navy, cream and soft pastels work well with the green oaks and white buildings.
